Pretzel Bites with Dip
I have just been craving a hot pretzel with some kind of mustard dip! I found a recipe for a vegan pretzel, so I went for it. I will link the original recipe below. Overall, the recipe was quite easy, but it was time consuming.
I followed the directions just as in the recipe, but I changed one thing. In the dough, I used 1 cup warm water (about 115 degrees Fahrenheit), 1 package of active dry yeast (2 ¼ tsp), 1 tbsp sugar, ¾ tsp salt, 3 tbsp oil, and about 4 cups of flour. I made the dough and let it rest. I cut the dough into bite sized pieces. Then, I proceeded with the baking soda wash, the cornstarch wash, and topping them with sea salt. I baked them in the oven and they came out just beautiful. They had the perfect crunch and soft interior. These pretzels were everything that I wanted a pretzel to be! I think next time that I would like to try boiling the pretzel pieces before baking them so that the pretzels can have an even coating of a crunchy outside.
I asked Jacob to make a dipping sauce for me. He made a horseradish honey mustard mayo dip. This dip was the perfect combination of spicy, sweet, and creamy. I really loved it! The best part about this mustard dip was that I could see using it for so many other dishes. I would use this mustard on burgers or sandwiches or with French fries! It was so good! I recommend serving the pretzels with some kind of dip!
Taste: 10/10!!!
Notes for next time: I would like to try boiling them before baking them!
