Macarons with Strawberry Buttercream and a White Chocolate Drizzle
With Valentine’s day coming up, I had to try making macarons again! I used the same recipe as I did the first time for the cookie portion. I found a recipe for strawberry buttercream (will link below). I put those two together and drizzled on some white chocolate--I was going for the chocolate covered strawberry vibe.
I think I did okay with the macaron part, but it was not perfect. My cookie was too hard on the outside and not chewy enough. I think I overcooked the cookie by a few minutes. I was happier this time with the techniques I used making the meringue and piping it out, but I was not happy with how I baked them.
I absolutely loved this recipe for strawberry buttercream. My buttercream was light and airy. It was silky and had a great texture. I think I would have liked a more predominant flavor of strawberry so I think I want to work on that.
Overall, I was happy with the progress that I have made making macarons, but I know I have some work to do! Let me know if you ever tried to make macarons and what your experience was!
Taste: 9/10--needed more strawberry
Notes for next time: More flavor!
