Chocolate Scones

I know you know that I love scones, so I will keep this post short. I love challenging myself to try new flavors. Trying new flavors allows me to push myself outside of my comfort zone and to learn more about the recipe that I am working with. This time I decided to modify the recipe in the Vegan for Everybody cookbook to make chocolate scones.

I followed the base of the recipe. I switched out the currants for ½ cup chocolate chips and I added a tablespoon of cocoa powder. I like how these turned out, but I did not love it. I was disappointed because I felt that the other kinds have been more moist and had a nicer texture. This tells me that next time that I make these scones I am going to subtract the amount of flour in the same ratio that I expect to add cocoa powder. For example, if I decide that I want to use 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder, I am going to take away 1 tablespoon of flour. I am going to try this next time to see how it works! I also thought about doing a chocolate glaze of some kind.

Taste: 8/10

Notes for next time: I need to subtract some flour and replace that with cocoa powder, so that they stay a bit more moist.
