Strip Steak with Potatoes and Parsley Sauce (From The Complete Cooking for Two Cookbook by America’s Test Kitchen)
I do not have a lot of experience cooking meat for a variety of reasons. When my husband said he was in the mood for steaks, I found this recipe for strip steaks with potatoes and wanted to give it a try. He cooked the steaks while I cooked the potatoes and made the parsley sauce. It all came together really well!
The instructions for the steak were very simple. The recipe said to pat the steaks dry, season with salt and pepper, and (basically) pan fry to your liking. Jacob worked on cooking the steaks and he did a good job. We both thought that we could have cooked the steaks a couple minutes less. We did learn from it and are excited to try again! I made the potato wedges which were microwaved and then I pan fried them in the oil from the steaks. The potatoes were crispy and smooth on the inside. They were really delicious. The potatoes and steak were served with the parsley sauce, which was a combination of parsley, oil, garlic, red onion, red wine vinegar, salt, and red pepper flakes.
Overall, this was a delicious dinner! I think next time that I would like to accompany the meal with an additional vegetable or a salad.
Taste: 10/10-Delicious!
Level of difficulty: ⅖--I need to practice cooking meat to the correct temperature and doneness.
Notes for next time: This time, we overdid the steaks by just a couple minutes.
