Pop Tarts with Caramel Dressing
I was in the store the other day and I came across pop tarts. I used to (still do) love pop tarts! I thought it would be a really cool idea if I could look up how to make homemade pop tarts and veganize them. I came across this recipe that wasn’t vegan and I tried. I will link the original recipe below that I used as a guide for my pop tarts.
The recipe had three different components, which were broken down into the dough, the filling, and the frosting. I followed the filling exactly as it was written in the recipe. For the dough and the frosting, I used coconut oil in place of butter and almond milk in place of milk. Overall, the recipe came out well, but I think I could have improved on the dough. The dough was not very easy to work with. I loved the idea of creating pop tarts, so I will be more than willing to try again!
Taste: 9/10
Level of difficulty: ⅖--the dough was a bit hard to work with
Notes for next time: I enjoyed trying this recipe, but I would like to look for an easier dough to work with.
