Peanut Butter AND Almond Butter (Recipes #168 AND #169)
Have you ever made your own nut butter? I have been seeing a lot of videos online about how easy and quick it is to make your own nut butter. The Vegan for Everybody cookbook contains two recipes for nut butters--peanut butter and almond butter.
The recipes are very simple and call for two ingredients. I had to put the nuts (almonds or peanuts) on a baking tray and roast them in the oven until the nuts start to release their oils. Then, I let the nuts cool slightly before transferring them to a food processor with a pinch of salt. I processed them until I reached the desired consistency. I tasted the nut butter and added more salt to taste.
This is a super easy process that I recommend anyone try. I like the idea of making my own nut butter because it cuts down on the sugar and other ingredients that are put into processed foods. It is a great idea to read the label of the nut butters you buy to understand what is in them. A lot of nut butters contain added sugar and other ingredients. If you make it at home, then you have complete control over what is going into your nut butter.
Taste: 10/10
Level of difficulty: 1/5
Notes for next time: I loved this process!
