Chile Sauce (Recipe #137)
The Vegan for Everybody Cookbook has a small section on sauces. This recipe for chile sauce pairs well with the Korean rice bowl in that cookbook. This chile sauce is very simple, but holds a lot of flavor. It is made from only a few ingredients--gochujang, water, toasted sesame seed oil, and sugar. I just whisked all of the ingredients together and the sauce was made. I liked this sauce because it had a little bit of heat and a little bit of sweetness. I think this paired well with the Korean rice bowl and I can see it pairing well with lots of other rice bowls, wraps, or other Asian inspired dishes.
Taste: 10/10
Level of difficulty: 1/5
Notes for next time: This was a great sauce idea! I would use this in place of where I use sriracha and wanted a sweeter flavor.
