Classic Croutons (Recipe #121)
You can easily buy croutons in the store, but you can also easily make them at home! I had some leftover bread and I knew I had to make something with it. There are quite a few options of what you can do with leftover bread. I have made a bread pudding with leftover bread, bread crumbs, and croutons. This recipe, from the Vegan for Everybody cookbook, for croutons is simple, easy, and classic. With just a few ingredients and about 20 minutes in the oven, these croutons are done.
I started by cutting up some leftover bread. I used about 3 cups, but feel free to use as much bread as you want. I put the bread in a bowl. I added oil, salt, and pepper. I tossed the bread well so that it was covered in the oil and seasonings. I put the bread on a baking sheet and baked them in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 20 minutes.
Taste: 10/10
Level of difficulty: 1/5
Notes for next time: I would love to dress these up with additional seasonings. I would love to use some garlic powder, onion powder, maybe paprika, maybe cayenne, or maybe cumin.
